Born in Wales, I grew up in Australia and England, and lived for many years in the Netherlands. Today I spread my time between the usually warmer Portuguese town of Olhão, and the often chillier Dutch city of Amsterdam.
After a PhD in the UK and two years as a research sociologist in Amsterdam, I spent over 20 years in advertising and design agencies in Europe, Asia and North America, before making photography my creative focus in 2016.
Specialising in black and white analogue photography, I shoot primarily medium format 120 film with a variety of vintage cameras from the 1950s, 60s and 80s, and sometimes plastic and pinhole cameras. Sometimes I shoot large format if I think it suits a particular project.
I print my own silver gelatine images by hand in the darkroom.
The passage of time and preservation are key themes I like to explore in my work.
